Kimia dates and Mazafati dates are the same fruit — Kimia is simply the trade name Indian buyers and distributors use for Mazafati, Iran's deep, dark, exceptionally soft signature export date. Ours are grown in Bam, Kerman Province, and account for roughly 20% of Iran's total date exports — the variety most international buyers picture when they think "Iranian dates."
Deep dark brown to near-black, with an exceptionally soft, fleshy texture and high natural moisture, Kimia/Mazafati delivers a uniquely fudgy, melt-in-the-mouth eating experience with notes of dark chocolate, caramel, and molasses.
The name itself carries meaning: "Kimia" (کیمیا) is Persian for alchemy — the same root behind English words like "chemistry" — and idiomatically refers to something rare, precious, an elixir. It's a fitting name for a date this prized in the Indian market.
