Kaluteh Dates
🌴
Plain & Oiled

Kaluteh Dates

Also known as: Kali Dates · Kalooteh · Kalote

📍 Kerman Province 💧 14–22% Moisture 🍯 Caramel-Sweet

Kaluteh dates are a highly prized variety cultivated in the Jiroft region of Kerman province. Similar to Mazafati but with a firmer structure and slightly lighter color, they ripen from vibrant red to a rich dark brown. Available both natural and lightly oiled — the oiled variety achieves a glossy premium appearance and extended shelf life. Their oval shape, meaty flesh, and distinctly caramel-like sweetness make them one of Iran's most valuable commercial export varieties. Main export markets include Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, India, Russia, the UAE and Chile. Packaged in 5 kg and 10 kg cartons to preserve quality during international transit.

Export Star

Mazafati Dates

Also known as: Kimia Dates · Bam Dates

📍 Bam, Kerman 💧 18–35% Moisture 🍫 Rich & Fudgy

Mazafati — also called Kimia or Bam dates — are Iran's crown jewel of date exports, accounting for approximately 20% of the country's total date output. Deep dark brown to near-black in color, they feature an exceptionally soft, fleshy texture with high natural moisture that delivers a uniquely fudgy, melt-in-the-mouth eating experience. Their intense sweetness carries notes of dark chocolate, caramel and molasses, making them internationally beloved for fresh consumption, gifting, and premium food applications. Available in multiple moisture grades. Bam's unique microclimate and mineral-rich soil give Mazafati an irreplaceable depth of flavor that no other region can replicate.

Zahedi Dates
🌾
Long Shelf Life

Zahedi Dates

Also known as: Zahidi Dates · Noble Dates

📍 Bushehr & Khuzestan ☀️ Semi-Dry 🌰 Nutty-Sweet

Zahedi dates are distinguished by their beautiful golden-yellow to amber color and firm, dry texture that sets them apart from Iran's softer varieties. Their characteristic nutty sweetness with caramel undertones makes them ideal for snacking, baking, and industrial food processing. With moisture content under 14%, Zahedi dates boast a shelf life of 1–3 years — making them exceptionally well-suited for long-distance export and large-scale distribution. Rich in fiber, potassium, magnesium and B-vitamins. Grown across the warm plains of Bushehr, Khuzestan and Fars provinces. Widely exported to Europe, Southeast Asia, the Middle East and Africa.

Mordasang Dates
🌕
Rare Variety

Mordasang Dates

Native to Jiroft · One of a Kind

📍 Jiroft, Kerman ❄️ Cold Nature 🟡 Soft Yellow

Mordasang is one of the rarest date varieties in the world — the only date with a "cold nature" in traditional Iranian medicine. Native to the Jiroft region of Kerman province, this semi-dry variety features a soft yellowish color, flesh that separates cleanly from the pit, and a mild, delicate sweetness. Unlike many varieties, its consumption does not cause internal heat, making it prized in natural health circles. Iran produces approximately 15,000 tons annually, primarily for domestic markets. Due to its unique profile and limited availability, it is a true specialty product. Ask us about current export availability.

Common Questions

What Buyers Usually Ask

Straight answers for importers and distributors evaluating VARAS Food as a supplier.

Can we visit your farm or do a video call before ordering?

Yes — both. We host buyer visits in person at our facility in Jiroft, and we also offer live video walkthroughs of the orchard, sorting line, and cold storage via WhatsApp before you commit to anything.

What is your minimum order quantity (MOQ)?

Our minimum order quantity is one 20ft container, approximately 12 tons. Standard packaging is 5 kg and 10 kg cartons, 12 cartons per master box, with custom bulk quantities available for larger distributors. Contact us with your target volume and destination for a full quote.

What Incoterms and payment terms do you offer?

We offer EXW, FOB, and CIF terms. Tell us your destination port and preferred terms and we'll quote accordingly. Payment is accepted by bank transfer to our UAE (Dubai) accounts in USD, EUR, or AED — we don't currently accept Letters of Credit. We'll confirm the exact process for your order, including our staged payment schedule.

What is your typical lead time from order to shipment?

Lead time is typically 2–5 weeks from confirmed order to loaded container. It depends mainly on order size — larger orders spanning multiple containers take longer — as well as variety and current harvest season. Tell us your target volume and we'll confirm exact timing.

Are your dates available year-round, or only after harvest?

Harvest runs August–October, but with our own cold storage, Mazafati and Kaluteh are available year-round — not limited to the post-harvest window. Zahedi and Mordasang follow the harvest cycle more directly.

When should we order for Ramadan delivery?

Ramadan shifts about 10–11 days earlier each year on the Gregorian calendar, so its timing relative to our August–October harvest season changes year to year too. As a general rule, place your order at least 2 months before Ramadan begins to be sure of on-time delivery.

Can we get samples before placing a bulk order?

Yes — contact us via the form below or WhatsApp with the varieties you're interested in, and we'll arrange samples along with our current spec sheet. You cover the courier cost to ship the samples, which we credit back against your first order.

Do your dates contain added sugar, syrup, or preservatives?

No — nothing is added. Mazafati's natural softness and Kaluteh's sweetness come from the fruit itself. The one exception is "polished" Kaluteh, which is treated only with food-grade edible oil for appearance and shelf protection — never sugar or preservatives, and always labeled as such.

What happens if arrival quality doesn't match the sample?

Every container is loaded under camera, sealed, and documented. If arrival quality genuinely deviates from the agreed spec, we resolve it — either replacement in your next shipment or a negotiated settlement, depending on the situation.

Is the shipment insured?

Marine cargo insurance follows the Incoterm: under CIF, we arrange insurance for you; under FOB or EXW, your forwarder arranges it on your side. We confirm this line by line in your quotation so there's no ambiguity about who's covered.

Do you offer private-label or custom packaging?

Yes. Alongside our standard 5 kg and 10 kg cartons, we accommodate private-label packaging, specific moisture-grade requests, and mixed-variety orders for distributors who need it. We can also print labels in your local language or include the regulatory information your market requires.

Which countries do you currently export to?

VARAS Food exports to 15+ countries, including Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, India, Russia, the UAE, and Chile, along with destinations across Europe, Southeast Asia, the wider Middle East, and Africa.

How quickly do you respond to inquiries?

We typically respond within 24 hours, especially via WhatsApp — the fastest way to reach us is the "Chat on WhatsApp Now" link in our contact section.

What export documents do you provide?

Every shipment includes a commercial invoice, packing list, certificate of origin, and phytosanitary certificate. Additional documentation, such as halal certification, is added per your destination market's requirements once confirmed for your order.

What is your payment schedule, and what if we need to cancel or change an order?

Payment is staged in three parts: 30% deposit when you confirm the order, 30% once the container is loaded (we send video proof), and the final 40% against the draft Bill of Lading — the original B/L is released only after that last payment clears. If you cancel before we've started production, your deposit is fully refunded. If production has already begun, the deposit covers our incurred costs (packaging materials, labor) and isn't refundable — the same applies to order changes made after production starts.

Do you offer better terms for buyers who order regularly or want a long-term supply relationship?

Yes. Returning buyers get priority scheduling on their orders, and we offer discounted pricing on repeat orders. A single order can scale up to 5×40ft containers (roughly 125 tons) with stable, locked-in pricing across the full volume — no per-container renegotiation. Beyond that, there's no fixed maximum: with enough notice, we scale to whatever ongoing volume a buyer needs.

Can we send a third-party inspector to check the product before it ships?

Yes — you or your representative, including third-party inspection services, are welcome to physically inspect the product before shipment. This is in addition to the video documentation we provide at loading for every order.

How should we store the dates after they arrive?

Storage temperature should be between 2-9°C, with the exact point depending on the variety's moisture content. Higher-moisture varieties like Mazafati/Kimia do best kept toward the cooler end (closer to the 0-4°C we recommend for transit). Lower-moisture, dry varieties like Zahedi are more flexible — if you're planning to sell within about a month, they can even be stored at 12-17°C without issue.

Can we order less than a full 20ft container to start?

A full 20ft container is our standard minimum, but smaller orders aren't ruled out. We can sometimes consolidate your order with another buyer's shipment to fill a container together, or add it onto one of our own outgoing shipments when the timing lines up. Both options are possible, but depend on matching timelines, so they take longer than a standard MOQ order and aren't guaranteed on a fixed schedule.

What happens if there's a shipping delay?

If a delay is caused by something on our end — production or preparation running behind schedule — we provide compensation. If it's caused by factors outside our control, such as port congestion or natural disasters, we're unable to offer compensation, as these are genuine force majeure situations neither party can prevent.
